JOB SUMMARY

The Office of the Bursar seeks qualified candidates to join the talented Student Billing team. Student Billing is responsible for generating and maintaining all student tuition and fee bills for students enrolled at the University of Connecticut and UConn Health. Under the direction of the Billing Manager, the Student Billing Operations Specialist will provide financial and administrative billing support which includes, but is not limited to, assisting with term tuition and fee setup in PeopleSoft; billing maintenance for Graduate and Professional School Dual Degree student accounts; verifying, posting and maintaining tuition waivers; and maintenance of late fees. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the maintenance and coordination of Graduate and Professional School Dual Degree account billing.
  • Assists with term tuition and fee set up in PeopleSoft, testing new set up and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine billing and tuition waiver processing issues.
  • Prepare reports/queries related to waivers and tuition charges.
  • Post, maintain, monitor and adjust tuition waivers, including Graduate Assistant Waivers, Veterans Waivers, Dependent Waivers, Employee Waivers, etc.
  • Coordinate Chapter 33 and other military benefits impacting the student fee bill with Veteran and Military Programs staff.
  • Process departmental group post batches.
  • Runs Late Fee Processes.
  • Update student accounts for Human Resources approved reciprocal tuition agreements.
  • Calculate and adjust tuition and fee adjustment exceptions requested through the University Bursar, including those for graduate students who withdraw and enroll in continuous registration.
  • Ensures compliance with established departmental administrative policies and procedures.
  • Assists Bursar Client Service Center staff with questions regarding student fee bills.
  • Serves as liaison between the department and other University offices.
  • Monitor, track and maintain accurate financial records; prepare reports, as needed.
  • Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or other related field and three to four years of related professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree and years requirement.
  2. Experience working with a variety of constituents, such as staff, administrators, and individual groups including the public.
  3. Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  4. Experience using and working with Microsoft Office products, including Excel.
  5. Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
  6. Ability to work independently to analyze available information, draw conclusions and understandings, and present such conclusions effectively to management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  2. Experience in working with enterprise systems, such as Oracle PeopleSoft, or equivalent.
  3. Prior experience in a university or college setting.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills.
