The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor-in-Residence level. This position is based on the Storrs campus. It is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position that has the possibility of leading to a multi-year contract. While the position does not require summer teaching, it will be possible for the successful applicant to offer additional courses during the summer for additional compensation. This position is suitable for candidates who wish to pursue a career with an emphasis on undergraduate teaching.
The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching a combination of courses in Biochemistry and Microbiology. Other responsibilities will include developing success and retention strategies for biology students, advising undergraduate students, and service to the Department and/or College as requested. Successful candidates will be expected to promote a sense of community for all students through the incorporation of interactive and inclusive teaching strategies. Use of methods which facilitate participation among members of under-represented groups and integrate multicultural experiences into instruction and research will be essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in a field related to biochemistry or microbiology, or an equivalent degree by the start date.
- Experience teaching undergraduate courses and a record of effective teaching.
- Demonstrated expertise in biochemistry and microbiology.
- Demonstrated commitment to engagement with diverse populations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Postdoctoral research experience or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing inclusive, evidence-based teaching practices and experiential learning.
- Experience working with innovative methods to improve student success and retention.
- Prior experience with course and curriculum development.
- Proved record of effective advising.
- Experience in scientific writing, responsible conduct of research, or laboratory management.
- Experience in the design and guidance of student research projects.
- An understanding of how course material relates to current scientific trends and careers in STEM.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This position is a full-time, nine (9)-month non-tenure-track appointment, with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2025. The standard teaching load for this position is seven courses per year. This position may be annually renewable based on performance, funding, and needs of the Department and College. The minimum salary will be $60,000 with possible flexibility depending on education and experience. Additional compensation can be earned through summer teaching.
