JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Regional Campus Operations for Student Health and Wellness (SHaW) at UConn is responsible for the strategic direction, best practice, and oversight of the effective functioning and operations of all SHaW nursing, mental health, wellness, and health promotion services provided on the UConn Regional Campuses. The Director will develop, implement, and evaluate goals and objectives of the SHaW regional campus services and program direction. The Director has experience in national and statewide laws and regulations related to healthcare and/or human services and will participate in the development of policies and procedures for the regional campus operations. These include areas of regulations related to clinical documentation, healthcare facilities requirements, medical records management, accreditation, security and privacy, healthcare billing and coding compliance, quality control, and healthcare reporting in a higher education setting. The Director applies a high degree of expertise and specialized knowledge in both the nursing and mental health clinical areas, including consistent and efficient healthcare front desk operations, quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and data abstraction for reporting and analysis. This position will create and implement SHaW policies and procedures to reflect national and state rules and regulations to ensure consistency and compliance with governmental and other regulatory guidelines for SHaW services provided on the UConn regional campuses.

This position reports to the Executive Director of Student Health and Wellness.  To be effective, this position needs to work in close collaboration with leaders and staff throughout SHaW, the Regional Campuses, and the University.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Directly supervises a multidisciplinary team including the Director of Regional Mental Health Clinical Case Management, the Regional RN Coordinator, the Program Director for Regional Campus Wellness, and a Lead Administrative Support Staff. Oversees these positions to ensure all regulatory standards are met.
  2. Responsible for major decisions related to all levels of SHaW regional campus personnel, including staffing, hiring, firing, evaluation, promotion, and training in compliance with collective bargaining agreements, University policies, healthcare regulations, and industry standards.
  3. Oversees the operations of SHaW nursing, mental health, health promotion, and administrative functions on UConn regional campuses, ensuring consistent coverage and standards of care. 
  4. Ensures consistency and adherence to clinical operation guidelines and develops strategies to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness throughout the SHaW regional cost centers.
  5. Is responsible for the development and ongoing management of collaborative agreements with health and wellbeing partners for each of the regional markets.
  6. Regularly informs Regional Campus Deans and regional campus leadership of SHaW services and goals and partners with them to determine student needs and future goals specific to each regional campus population.
  7. Works with SHaW directors in a matrix model of supervision for clinical and programmatic oversight to ensure a standardized approach to clinical care, health promotion, and operations for optimal performance for all SHaW regional services.
  8. Leverages existing SHaW structures and support services for standardized operations across all of SHaW, where appropriate. Ensures compliance with accreditation standards.
  9. Analyzes and prepares monthly productivity, quality, and financial data reports to drive business decisions, increase efficiency, and improve the quality of care for students at the regional campuses.
  10. Assesses SHaW patient satisfaction data, utilization data, regional campus national benchmark data, etc. to identify opportunities to improve the student/patient experience, health equity, and quality of care.
  11. Oversees effective and efficient operations and compliance with regulations for all related spaces, including regional clinical office spaces, the SHaW mobile van, “pop-up” clinics in event spaces, etc.
  12. Responsible for management and maintenance of SHaW mobile van operations, supplies, parking, licensure requirements, etc.
  13. Works with SHaW directors to create or update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with changing healthcare laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  14. All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Master’s degree with 10 years of experience or Bachelor’s degree with 15 years of experience in a health or human services-related field.
  2. 10 years of experience in health or human services management or management of a complex health-related organization.
  3. 8 years of direct supervisory experience.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of and stated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
  5. Demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
  6. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with diverse populations.
  7. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, nationally recognized standards, and guidelines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix management structure, understanding the necessity for regional clinical leaders to have reporting lines to SHaW directors for clinical supervision and clinical training.
  2. More than 8 years of direct supervisory experience.
  3. Supervisory experience overseeing clinical managers.
  4. Experience in higher education.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time permanent position (40 hours weekly).
