JOB SUMMARY
The University of Connecticut, Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Systems Administrator 2 for our Secure Research environment. This position works under a designated team lead or manager and is responsible for supporting the Office 365 and Entra services within UConn’s Secure Research Environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing complex technical support including the design, installation, and maintenance of 365 and Entra, as well as being the overall service manager for the service. They will be working with researchers and coordinating tasks across the team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate and monitor the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of requests for the Secured Research Infrastructure to ensure customer needs are met.
- Manage the Office 365 environment within our Secure Research Infrastructure, to include email, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
- Manage the Entra environment within our Secure Research Infrastructure, managing users and policies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure features, trends, and best practices.
- Manage tasks as they come in across the team, coordinating with researchers and team members to ensure tasks are complete.
- Work effectively with a diverse team that supports a broad spectrum of technologies.
- Create and maintain documentation in support of infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 8 years of related experience; or an Associate’s degree and 6 years of related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, including configuration and support of services.
- Experience with managing Microsoft Entra.
- Knowledge of role-based access control, such as Active Directory user and groups or Azure Roles.
- Experience managing others for task assignment.
- Knowledge of project management.
- US citizenship is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), NIST SP 800-171 and/or Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 .
- Experience with Azure virtual desktop.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, such as deployment of virtual machines and storage accounts.
- Experience with creating and managing Azure subscriptions and resource groups.
- Understanding of firewall policies or network security groups.
- Experience with Azure networking, such as virtual networks, subnets, and public/private endpoints.
- Experience with managing Windows or Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of scripting, such as PowerShell, Ansible, or Azure CLI.
- Experience in a higher education environment.
