JOB SUMMARY

The Undergraduate Student Success Business Office is seeking an Administrative Program Support 2 professional to join our team with a special focus on supporting the operations of UConn’s Cultural Centers including: African American Cultural Center, Asian American Cultural Center, Puerto Rican Latin American Cultural Center, Middle Eastern Cultural Programs, Native American Cultural Programs, Rainbow Center, and Women’s Center. This individual may also support other units within the Undergraduate Student Success Business Office. This position will provide day-to-day financial and administrative support including purchasing, student hiring, scheduling, room reservations, and dissemination of communications.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs administrative functions, including assisting with purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, travel arrangements, reimbursements, and maintenance of inventory and supplies. 
  • Assists with the monitoring of Cultural Center budgets. Tracks financial commitments; analyzes and verifies details of transactions, and completes reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records. 
  • Submits payroll transactions and manages work study process. 
  • Provides support in the hiring and onboarding processes in concert with other team members in the Business Office, including advertising, offer creation, staff and graduate assistant letters, and onboarding coordination. 
  • In coordination with Cultural Center staff, assists with logistics for small- and large-scale events and activities throughout the year. 
  • Assists in handling room reservations for program spaces and maintaining scheduling systems. 
  • Handles building-related issues that arise in assigned spaces in collaboration with campus partners. 
  • Assists in the maintenance and modification of complex filing and record-keeping systems. 
  • Serves as a member of the Student Success Business Office team, providing additional administrative, fiscal, and HR support for the units it supports. 
  • Develops and maintains constructive, professional, and positive work relationships with faculty, staff, students, and all levels of University administrators, as well as external constituents. 
  • Responsible for leading or assisting with projects based on evolving department needs and initiatives that require technical knowledge and understanding of the unit’s programs and activities that may be short-term, long-term, or ongoing. 
  • May supervise student workers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, including handling multiple assignments simultaneously with close attention to detail and the ability to consistently produce a high standard of work output. 
  3. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. 
  4. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. 
  5. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and student success. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience working in higher education. 
  2. Experience with purchasing, accounting, and/or managing expenses. 
  3. Experience with event management including scheduling, vendor communications, and logistics. 
  4. Proven effectiveness in utilizing excellent customer service skills. 
  5. Experience working directly with students and/or mentoring students. 

APPOINTMENT TERMS

Salary will be in mid 50ks, commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience.  This is a full-time position. This position will be in person at the UConn Storrs campus. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
