JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Associate Director of CAPS, the Student Services Program Coordinator develops and administers day-to-day program activities and educational support for the Center for Access & Postsecondary Success. In addition to coordinating day-to-day administrative activities, the Program Coordinator organizes, plans, and executes projects in support of the department’s mission to help students succeed in their transition to college, promote their persistence, and encourage their holistic development and engagement at UConn.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the supervision, training, and evaluation of student staff; establishes work schedules and work priorities; recommends student staffing needs and assists in hiring decisions.
- Coordinates development of informational and promotional materials for use in outreach activities, including, but not limited to mass emails, mail mergers, flyers, newsletters, social media posts, and other documents. Assists with maintaining the department website, social media accounts, and other electronic sources/media.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of the CAPS summer program, including activity scheduling, logistics, and orientation programming.
- Monitors student participation and tracks engagement through the use of internal and external monitoring systems and provides reports on student engagement and participation.
- Assists with program evaluation and data collection needed for department performance reports; compiles engagement and student success data; prepares reports to aid in evaluating student progress, participation, persistence, and program evaluation; identifies trends and issues and recommends changes and improvements when appropriate; creates visual aids to communicate data; develops processes for tracking and reporting on student and program accomplishments.
- Monitors online financial literacy program; develops and facilitates financial literacy workshops and programming.
- Assists in the recruitment and training of student leaders, including CAPS Student Advisory Board, peer mentors, and summer community leaders.
- Assists in coaching and advising students regarding academic programs and student success.
- Teaches UNIV/FYE courses where possible.
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and 3-4 years of related experience.
- Experience working with first-generation, low-income students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
- Experience in data management, analysis, and reporting.
- Experience coordinating activities and events.
- Experience with delivery of group presentations and/or teaching experience.
- Experience with social and digital media communication and engagement.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing, and administrative skills.
- Ability to provide general educational support, effectively implement recruiting strategies, and interpret educational records and related information.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree.
- Three or more years of related experience in higher education.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, permanent position. This position is partially funded via a grant, with renewal contingent upon performance and funding.
