INTRODUCTION
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut invites applications and nominations for a nine-month Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor. The successful candidate will join a dynamic Department of Curriculum and Instruction and engage in a variety of tasks related to the implementation of our nationally recognized teacher education program, including but not limited to: cultivating and sustaining educative and mutually beneficial school/university partnerships as a District Liaison; teaching courses; supporting the recruitment and retention of new cohorts of students; and being an active member of the department.

The Neag School of Education (https://education.uconn.edu/) is ranked in the top 35 among all graduate schools of education and in the top 25 among public graduate schools of education in the nation according to U.S. News & World Report. The Neag School offers programs and courses on the main campus in Storrs and at the Hartford, Avery Point, Stamford, and Waterbury campuses. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI) offers outstanding undergraduate and graduate programs of study for both pre-service and in-service educators. Its programs were recently ranked No. 28 (tie) in the nation, according to the 2024 Curriculum and Instruction Programs rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate, guided by the Director of Teacher Education and Director of School/University Partnerships, and working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and others in the Teacher Education Unit, will support the successful implementation of the 5-year Integrated Bachelor’s/Master’s (IB/M) teacher education program, including: developing and strengthening school-university partnerships as a District Liaison; participating in continuous program improvement efforts and student success initiatives, accreditation and accountability efforts; overseeing some administrative components related to the teacher education program; representing the Neag School to internal and external entities; making contributions through teaching, scholarship, and service as a clinical faculty member in the Neag School of Education; and performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Teacher Education, the Director of School/University Partnerships, and the EDCI Department Head.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education or related area, at the time of appointment.
- Three years of classroom teaching experience at the elementary, middle, or secondary level.
- Direct experiences in and/or commitment to educational equity and justice and supporting student learning in culturally and linguistically diverse settings.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a range of education stakeholders, including K-12 teachers, school and district leaders, teacher educators, coaches/mentors, and prospective teachers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated success in developing, facilitating, or supporting field-based and clinical experiences for beginning teachers to learn from practicing teachers/educators through serving as a university supervisor, cooperating teacher, or other relevant position.
- Leadership experience in K-12 schools as a teacher or administrator with the potential to contribute to the ongoing support and development of partnerships between public schools and the Neag School’s teacher preparation program.
- Knowledge of historical and contemporary state, national, and/or international trends in teacher education.
- Success with teaching undergraduate or graduate courses designed to support the learning of prospective teachers.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, 9-month position with an anticipated start date of January 2025 and subject to annual review. The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. Faculty may also be asked to teach at one of UConn’s regional campuses as part of their ordinary workload. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
