JOB SUMMARY

The Communications & Multimedia Strategist (Media Producer 1) communicates, supports, and enhances overall marketing goals of the University, the Office of Global Affairs, and its respective units. The incumbent manages the UConn Global identity consistent with University Communications’ branding standards across a variety of digital and print media formats. In addition, this role includes performing some administrative duties for the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recommends social media and communications strategy after conducting competitive research, platform determination, messaging, and audience identification.
  • Conduct market research using SEO and other metrics to understand student, faculty, donor and public perception of the Office of Global Affairs and stakeholder engagement and suggest content optimization.
  • Capture and analyze the appropriate data metrics and insights to measure the success of every communication and marketing campaign, then use that information to refine future campaigns.
  • Compile data and prepare statistical reports used to monitor or assess department activities, programs, and services or project future needs.
  • Support data-driven marketing and communications efforts by managing and streamlining office workflows, coordinating documentation processes, and ensuring accurate maintenance of records and databases.
  • Plan, create, publish, and share new content (including original text, press releases, speeches, newsletters, images, video and code) daily that builds meaningful connections, increases brand awareness and encourages community engagement with the Office of Global Affairs and its units.
  • Manage and update content on the Office of Global Affairs’ websites and social media platforms and ensure they follow University and Global Affairs branding, policies and standards.
  • Set up and optimize UConn Global pages within each platform to increase the visibility of our social content.
  • Stay up to date with the latest social media and website best practices and technologies.
  • Moderate user-generated content in line with the moderation policy.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Global Affairs’ units to develop social media campaigns.
  • Provide support to other media staff to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects and to meet production schedules.
  • Serve as a consultant and resource to OGA staff in advanced seminars, workshops and training to build and maintain their individual brands while considering the overall University and OGA guidelines and policies.
  • Coordinate a variety of data processing functions central to the department's needs; schedule and produce routine reports.
  • Participate in training sessions, workshops, staff meetings, and University-wide events.
  • Perform related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media and Design, Communications, Marketing, Business or related field.
  2. 2 years of experience in communications, website development and/or management.
  3. Excellent communication skills, data organization & management, and attention to detail.
  4. Experience in writing, editing and publishing media content – digital and written.
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  6. Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
  7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Outlook and SharePoint.
  8. Familiarity with Canva, social media scheduling platforms and social media platforms.
  9. Comfortable forging relationships in person and electronically.
  10. The ability to consistently follow up with others and work with diverse professional groups is essential.
  11. Experience working across cultures and within various levels of an organization. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience working in higher education or with student-facing organizations.
  2. Experience using analytics tools to identify trends and communicate insights.
  3. Experience in organic and paid, with advanced knowledge of paid in primary social platforms.
  4. Experience with social media follower growth.
  5. Experience supervising student workers.

This is a full-time, permanent position at Storrs Campus. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s background and experience.
