JOB SUMMARY 

The Privacy Analyst, University Staff Professional 1, reports to the University Privacy Officer and supports the implementation and maintenance of the University’s privacy program. The position is primarily responsible for coordinating privacy education and training, including content development and delivery of public presentations; developing and monitoring key privacy metrics, reports, and dashboards; administering the privacy website; and managing the University’s FERPA consent system. The Privacy Analyst also assists with various additional aspects of the privacy program as needed and assigned.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the University Privacy Officer with the coordination, development, facilitation, and enhancement of the University’s Privacy Program.
  • Responsible for the coordination of privacy education and training through various methods and modalities, including virtual and in-person presentations. 
  • Responsible for the development and management of privacy program metrics, reports, and dashboards, and providing recommendations for program enhancement. 
  • Responsible for the administration and content of the University’s privacy website.
  • Responsible for the management of the University’s FERPA consent system and associated processes, e.g., access authorization and removal, responding to requests and inquiries, and maintenance of related records.    
  • Assist with the processing of privacy impact assessments involving new products, services, and third-party vendors.   
  • Assist with privacy incident response processes, including review of reported incidents, remediation, process recommendations, and reporting of potential data events and incidents. 
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of privacy policies, notices, and procedures.
  • Assist in responding to general privacy inquiries from employees, students, and third parties; provide accurate information and sound guidance as appropriate.   
  • Assist with data governance projects and initiatives involving data ownership and transfer, data inventory and mapping, data classification, etc. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the records information management program and assist with projects and activities involving data retention and destruction, as needed. 
  • Responsible for maintaining continuing education and knowledge of relevant privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices.         

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience providing education and training to constituents, including content development and delivery of public speaking presentations.
  • Experience communicating clearly and effectively in both written and oral formats while demonstrating a strong attention to detail. 
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, utilizing established guidelines, standards, or documented best practices. 
  • Experience working independently and effectively while maintaining a collaborative team approach.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), or similar privacy certification. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of privacy laws and regulations applicable to higher education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of privacy principles such as notice, choice, consent, individual rights, etc. 
  • Experience working in a university setting or in the field of information privacy.    
  • Demonstrated experience in data technology and basic analytics tools and dashboards. 
  • Proven experience using Microsoft Office 365 tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. 

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, permanent hybrid position requiring the employee to be in the office at a minimum of two days per week, subject to change. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $82,000, depending on the candidate's background and experience.
