JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Enrollment and Registration at UConn Hartford, the Registration and Academic Services Coordinator (Student Services Program Assistant 2) provides administrative and programmatic support for the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Services and Registrar’s Office on the Hartford campus.

The Registration and Academic Services Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of academic operations at the regional campus level. This position requires an individual who is detail-oriented and proactive and possesses excellent communication and organizational skills. This role will perform large amounts of data entry and processing necessary for various scheduling and registrar functions. Incumbents in this position are expected to work fairly independently but within the goals and objectives established by the supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the input of academic classes into the university’s registration system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Schedules academic classes and final examinations, assisting in the balancing of available space with curriculum needs.
  • Processes registration requests and academic record inquiries/tasks for regional campus students, maintaining the accuracy and integrity of academic records ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves scheduling and registration issues for students and faculty.
  • Collaborate with the University’s central registrar’s office to ensure consistency and alignment in academic record-keeping practices.
  • Serves as a resource to faculty, administration, students, and others for questions and interpretations for matters such as student records, data, registration, and scheduling policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, submit, and present reports on registration trends, course enrollment data, and other relevant metrics to inform decision-making and planning.
  • Manage the advertising process for new faculty positions for UConn Hartford, utilizing various platforms to effectively reach potential candidates.
  • Solicit feedback from students, faculty, and staff to inform improvements to registration services and systems.
  • Participate in working groups related to academic operations, contributing expertise and insights to enhance services and processes.
  • Teaches a First Year Experience class to incoming students.
  • Responsible for additional duties as necessary to support the Assistant Director of Student Enrollment and Registration.
  • Performs administrative and related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an academic discipline appropriate to the field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two or more years working in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume setting.
  • Proven organizational and planning skills, meeting deadlines, and a high-level attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong and efficient computer and technical skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to working at a large, diverse, and urban campus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working in a registrar's office.
  • Four or more years of experience working in higher education.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft, EMS, CourseLeaf, and/or similar scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recordkeeping systems and ability to be precise with quantitative data.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, permanent position. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
