JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut School of Fine Arts, Connecticut Repertory Theatre ("CRT") seeks a permanent, full-time, 10-month Theatre Company/House Manager. The Company/House Manager supports CRT guest artists and coordinates house management for CRT productions. Duties include artists' services, theatre event management, volunteer coordination, administration, and audience services. The CRT Company/House Manager is a core member of the CRT staff and reports to the Managing Director. This position requires the ability to work flexible hours during the production season, including nights and weekends, as required. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates travel and housing for CRT guest artists and manages CRT artists' services and hospitality.
  • Administers Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) and other contract hiring, reports, and related documents for university and URTA artist engagement services.
  • Manages Front of House services for CRT events and serves as lead House Manager for CRT productions in multiple venues.
  • Oversees and maintains health and safety protocols for theatre patrons and ensures ADA compliance.
  • Manages CRT concessions and merchandise inventory and sales.
  • Recruits, coordinates, trains, and oversees student workers and community volunteer ushers.
  • Coordinates photography for CRT publicity, marketing, and archival purposes.
  • Oversees playbill design and build for productions; ensures adherence to branding and style guide requirements, page allowances, and production deadlines.
  • Collaborates with the Managing Director and Theatre Box Office Manager to design and execute patron appreciation events, opening night receptions, and the annual season launch event.
  • Assists the Managing Director in the performance of theatre administration, program activities, and special projects.
  • Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field and up to one year of related professional experience OR Associate's Degree and two to three years of related professional experience.
  2. Demonstrated, exceptional customer service experience, 1 – 2 years.
  3. Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft Office and related programs.
  5. Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours.
  6. A valid driver’s license is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Two to five years of experience in a professional theatre, university theatre program, or performing arts organization.
  2. Demonstrated experience managing/supervising staff and/or volunteers 1 – 2 years.
  3. Demonstrated experience supervising student workers.
  4. Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment.
  5.  Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a 35-hour per week, full-time, 10-month position located on the Storrs campus. The position requires flexible night/weekend hours during CRT performances and special events. In-state travel and a valid driver's license are required.
