JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut, School of Fine Arts, Digital Media & Design Department, invites applications for an Administrative Program Assistant 1 position (UCP I). Serving as the primary coordinator for the Digital Media CT (DMCT) program, this individual will assist the Principal Investigator in managing operations and leading outreach and coordination of DMCT events. Although the focus of the position is on the coordination of DMCT projects and events, it also requires proficient knowledge of social media, content management systems, and visual design. The position will be based in Stamford, with some travel to the Storrs Campus and DMCT partner institutions across Connecticut. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the DMCT Principal Investigator, the incumbent will perform the following functions:

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Supervise student workers in support of DMCT social media activities and event planning. 
  • Schedule and coordinate events, workshops, and meetings. 
  • Maintain detailed statistics for social media channels and DMCT micro-credential courses. 
  • Assist in the hiring of DMCT consultants and special payroll and student workers.
  • Provide regular updates on finished materials to supervisor.

FISCAL

  • Assist with grant activity in conjunction with the Sponsored Program office and/or School of Fine Arts staff, including allowable purchases and other standard University of Connecticut forms in compliance with the School and University policies and procedures. 

GENERAL

  • Support planning and implementation of DMCT Summit in Fall 2024.
  • Coordinate the production of the Select+CT podcast.
  • Manage social media outreach to promote DMCT content, including DMCT micro-credentials.
  • Maintain the DMCT website and develop regular updates by publishing monthly blog posts and sharing information on upcoming DMCT events.
  • Support strategic relationships with DMCT partners and faculty coordinators.
  • Support the development of the updated Digital Media CT manifesto.
  • Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Associate's degree in an appropriate field and 2 to 3 years of experience in roles involving responsible administrative support, social media marketing, and/or event planning; OR a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field with up to one year of experience in roles involving responsible administrative support, social media marketing, and/or event planning.
  2. Ability to work independently and regularly exercise judgment regarding administrative detail and procedures.
  3. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  5. Demonstrate an ability to respect diversity and work collaboratively with individuals of diverse cultural, social, and educational backgrounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in appropriate field.
  2. Administrative experience in an academic setting.
  3. Demonstrated experience in social media marketing, event coordination, and working with content management systems like WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace.
  4. Knowledge of Connecticut’s Digital Media industry and/or experience in community projects related to Digital Media.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 12-month, grant-funded, end-dated position with the possibility of annual renewal based on available funding. The University offers a competitive salary, outstanding benefits including employee and dependent tuition reimbursement at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment.  Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s background and experience. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
