JOB SUMMARY

OVPR’s Sponsored Programs Services at UConn is seeking an energetic, career-minded self-starter to provide financial and administrative support to professional research administration staff in the oversight of the University’s sponsored project and research activity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sets up and maintains financial accounts and administrative records, including entering and uploading documents and financial data into financial and research administration systems.
  • Processes, tracks, and maintains grants and contracts administrative change requests via an online ticket system.
  • Calculates cost share, verifying and performing financial transactions, such as deposits, journal entries, cost transfers, and payroll adjustments.
  • Assist research administrators in the preparation/monitoring of budgets, financial reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Follows up on inquiries and processes correspondence.
  • Performs related tasks as requested or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Experience with online, electronic financial processing.
  3. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  4. Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft programs, particularly Excel and Word.
  5. Demonstrated customer service skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  2. Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
  3. Experience assisting with the management of grants and sponsored projects.
  4. Experience working in a higher education.
  5. Knowledge of Kuali Financial Systems (KFS) and WebFocus.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, permanent position with an excellent benefits package including medical and retirement, as well as employee and dependent tuition waivers at the University of Connecticut. With the expectation to travel on-site as needed, remote and/or hybrid work modalities may be considered in accordance with the University's Alternate Work Arrangements policies and procedures. The target salary range for this position will be commensurate with experience, currently $50,091 to $58,000. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
