JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut, Information Technology Services (ITS) Department is seeking an Active Directory and Entra ID administrator for the Identity and Access Management Team. This position works under a designated team lead and is responsible for developing and administering Entra ID and Active Directory at the University of Connecticut. The successful candidate will be responsible for new configurations, support, and future development of services. Familiarity with Entra ID, Active Directory Domain Services, and enterprise security is a requirement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports on-premises Active Directory Domain Services.
  • Supports user account and group sync with on-premises AD.
  • Administers, designs, and supports Entra ID and its integrations.
  • Evaluates and deploys new features available in Entra ID.
  • Monitors and resolves account security issues in Entra ID.
  • Configures new Entra ID integrations and permissions.
  • Develop scripts to automate frequent processes.
  • Monitors and resolves security issues with on-premises IAM servers.
  • Promotes a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment, working closely with all levels of IAM staff and third-party vendors and teams. 
  • Takes a leadership role in self-education.  Maintain a high level of general and specialized knowledge and significant working experience to make informed technical recommendations.  
  • Other related duties as required.

Additional Job Duties for System Administrator 3

  • Develops advanced solutions and scripts to improve login services.
  • Leads IAM login system initiatives and projects.
  • Identifies and implements new IAM solutions as they relate to login
  • Monitors for and alerts for potential issues with current practices.
  • Train and mentor junior staff.
  • Understands and integrates with other IAM services.
  • Works independently with other organizations and teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications for System Administrator 2

  1. 8 years of related experience; or an associate degree and 6 years of related experience; or a bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience.
  2. Experience administering and managing Entra ID.
  3. Experience administering and managing Active Directory.
  4. Experience managing groups and users in a domain environment.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of authentication protocols such as OIDC, CAS, SAML, LDAP, SCIM.
  6. Demonstrated familiarity with PowerShell or other scripting/automation tools.
  7. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  8. Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and analysis.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for System Administrator 3

  1. 10 years of related experience; or an associate degree and 8 years of related experience; or a bachelor's degree and 6 years of related experience.
  2. Experience designing and implementing large scale identity management solutions.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead projects through implementations.
  4. Experience identifying and evaluating new and relevant technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications for Systems Administrator 2

  1. Knowledge of account login processes and workflows.
  2. Experience administering Entra ID for a large environment.
  3. Experience administering, securing, and upgrading Active Directory Domain Services.
  4. Experience with Active Directory Certificate Services.
  5. Experience writing scripts or programs.
  6. Experience creating Conditional Access policies.
  7. Experience with IGA tools such as SailPoint Identity Security Cloud.
  8. Experience working with Microsoft services that depend on Entra ID (e.g. Microsoft 365, Intune).
  9. Experience administering Windows or Linux servers.

Additional Preferred Qualifications for Systems Administrator 3

  1. Experience administering Entra ID or Active Directory for a complex, enterprise environment.
  2. Experience writing web applications or automated workflow processes.
  3. Experience with Entra MTO, Cross Tenant Sync, or guest accounts.
  4. Experience with Entra ID External ID.
  5. Experience with Entra Privileged Identity Management.
  6. Familiarity with Power Platform services.
  7. Experience with Microsoft Licensing.
