JOB SUMMARY

The Global Partnerships Coordinator develops and maintains institutional global partnerships and their associated programs, as well as manages and promotes faculty, staff, and student engagement in global networks and other global opportunities. Under the direction of the Global Partnerships Manager, they develop and deliver content for global programs for the Office of Global Affairs. The incumbent will coordinate and support faculty, staff, and student engagement with global partners through events such as visits, workshops, and outreach activities, and will support the development of new partnerships in furtherance of university's strategic objectives. The incumbent will also research and produce briefings on international partners, countries, or regions that inform the strategic decision-making of leadership. This position also provides support for the expansion of partnership opportunities and serves as a highly specialized and advanced resource for program content and the provision of programmatic services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in the planning, development, design, and evaluation of workshops, outreach events, training programs, and other events, in accordance with the Office of Global Affairs’ goals and objectives.
  • Support the development of new institutional partnerships, including identifying potential new partners, researching and evaluating engagement models, and managing the internal partnership proposal process.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement international partnership initiatives in academic and educational programming.
  • Plan and coordinate campus visits of delegations from partner universities, including scheduling meetings, reserving meeting space, arranging transportation and accommodation, composing and submitting expense requests and reports, and arranging meals.
  • Research and prepare briefings on partner institutions and/or countries, including gathering and consolidating data from internal and external sources.
  • Maintain awareness of major trends in international higher education, including new and emerging partnership models.
  • Serve as a primary resource to students, staff, faculty, and others on programmatic policies, procedures, and activities; hold information sessions on partnership topics for internal audiences.
  • Manage program logistics, including travel coordination, acquiring vendors, event setup, and staffing.
  • Coordinate post-workshop and program developments, which may include drafting event proceedings, coordinating translations, creating post-event/program progress reports, assessments/evaluations, and following up on action items.
  • Coordinate with the OGA Communications team and the University Communications on marketing and communications needs related to partnership activity and programming.
  • Assist with the preparation of applications, proposals, and reports for submission to global networks. Represent Global Affairs at meetings and events related to network and partner engagement. Assist with the development, planning, coordination, and execution of proposals and resultant programs.
  • Manages process for evaluating faculty funding requests, including consolidating application materials, provision of materials to decision-making parties, monitoring funding request workflow, and communicating with applicants.
  • Perform office management duties for the unit, including but not limited to assisting in the development of budgets for programs and proposals, hiring support and processing paperwork for new hires, arranging travel, expense reimbursements, and payment processing. Determines workflow, monitors, and processes necessary paperwork as well as maintenance of records and filing system.
  • Makes program budget recommendations for special initiatives and projects. Monitor actual expenditures against projected as projects progress. Assist in identifying resources and funding sources as needed.
  • Assist with content management on the Global Partnerships and Outreach website, including ensuring content is current.
  • Engage in public relations and promotional activities for programs and networks. Participate in and/or represent the supervisor in regular meetings with various internal and external working groups, prepare minutes with follow-up on action items.
  • Collect and analyze program data and participate in evaluating program effectiveness. Identify problems and make necessary changes.
  • Perform related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Three to four years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently and to exercise initiative.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to work some evening or weekend hours. Ability to travel nationally and internationally for work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships across sectors (academia, governmental, and non-governmental organizations).
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining organizational strategic partnerships.
  • Experience in a university setting, working collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff.
  • Proficiency in relational databases (Airtable) and data management.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time position located at the Storrs campus. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
