JOB SUMMARY

Provides administrative and programmatic support for strategic initiatives. Manages and monitors day-to-day operations and activities. Works under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives and Community Engagement (Operational Director) at the UConn School of Social Work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates program logistics and provides administrative support for the operational director and faculty.
  • Serves as a resource to students and the director on matters relating to program activities, administrative policies, and procedures.
  • Assists in serving as a liaison to students, faculty, and staff regarding strategic programs.
  • Advises and assists assigned program committees in developing, planning, budgeting, scheduling, and marketing programs.
  • Prepares accurate reports, as required.
  • Compiles and maintains a collection of resource materials and program information.
  • Performs office management duties in processing administrative and financial paperwork and managing documentation.
  • Reviews operating procedures for efficiency and effectiveness. Makes minor changes or recommends major changes or improvements.
  • Designs, schedules, and produces informational and promotional materials including brochures, posters, advertising flyers, and newspaper advertisements.
  • Conducts recruitment of students in collaboration with internal units.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide administrative and program support.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and regularly exercise judgment regarding a wide variety of administrative and student matters.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficient writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, etc., Canva.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work experience in a college or university academic setting.
  • Familiarity with University of Connecticut/State of Connecticut regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with student records systems, such as PeopleSoft and Slate.
  • Familiarity with student academic regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish level of proficiency in speaking.
