JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut Division of Athletics is accepting applications for a full-time position of Assistant Men’s Golf Coach. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Head Men’s Golf Coach in all aspects of student-athlete support: developing training plans that account for the specific needs of student-athletes, including practice plans and simulator sessions; designing and running tryouts and qualifiers; meeting with and developing clear communication channels with student-athletes; supporting academic success; selecting and ordering team equipment and apparel; and maintaining records and statistics.
  • Assists in the scheduling of contests and practices in accordance with NCAA and Big East policies. Available for practices and overnight travel to competitions. Help to organize competition, transportation, meals, and lodging for travel.
  • Participates in promotional and fundraising initiatives. Effectively engages in special events to generate interest within the College and local golf community, including networking and playing golf with alumni and donors and exploring community service opportunities.
  • Understands emerging golf technologies, including TrackMan, and similar products, and shows the ability to use science and data to inform decisions when appropriate.
  • Transports student-athletes to competitions and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Golf Coach.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Coaching and/or playing experience, especially at the collegiate level or in a club or professional setting.
  3. Experience communicating effectively in writing and in person, including working with diverse groups to establish and maintain professional relationships.
  4. Experience organizing and tracking multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Experience using Microsoft Office or similar applications for document preparation, data entry/analysis, scheduling, and communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. PGA/LPGA certified professionals.
  2. Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.
  3. Experience recruiting or working with high school athletes.
  4. Management or team building experience.
  5. A network of relationships with regional golf contacts.
  6. Possesses coaching and student-athlete development philosophies consistent with that of the Division of Athletics and its men’s ice hockey program.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time position and requires a valid driver's license. The incumbent must be capable and comfortable with transporting student athletes to competitions and practices as needed.
