JOB SUMMARY

Audit and Management Advisory Services is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to fill an Information Technology Auditor (IT) position with excellent technical and interpersonal skills to join our Internal Audit team. The IT Auditor conducts a wide variety of IT infrastructure and cybersecurity audits at UConn and UConn Health to evaluate the effectiveness of controls against generally accepted IT control frameworks and compliance with University policies.

Under the general direction of the Director of IT Audit, conducts a wide variety of complex IT audits at UConn and UConn Health to evaluate the effectiveness of IT controls and compliance with federal, state, and University policies and regulations, makes formal recommendations based on findings; and provides follow up and monitoring of the implementation of recommended corrective actions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Participate in the continual risk assessment of IT controls and assist in the development of the annual IT Audit Plan.
  2. Plan and conduct complex risk-based IT audits with minimal supervision to ensure that controls are effective in managing risk for IT functions such as IT infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, databases, operating systems, and applications.
  3. Prepare audit programs, conduct walkthroughs, execute internal control testing, and prepare workpapers.
  4. Analyze and evaluate results of audits, identify control gaps, and evaluate the significance and potential business impact to improve process effectiveness. Develop audit findings and draft audit reports, including recommendations using appropriate risk criteria and cost-benefit considerations to improve the IT control environment.
  5. Review and negotiate findings and formal recommendations with appropriate staff and management of areas audited.
  6. Follow up on management actions and validate all remediation activity with process owners.
  7. Participate in advisory and consulting projects related to the implementation of IT controls associated with emerging technologies and business applications and offer risk and control consulting and advice to University management.
  8. Provide technical support for the Department’s audit management system.
  9. Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or a related field.
  • Certification as a CISA, CISSP, or CISM.
  • Two years of IT Audit experience and/or working knowledge of cybersecurity and IT general controls and risks.
  • Familiarity with COBIT, NIST, and other IT control frameworks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and automated workpaper applications.
  • Excellent oral, negotiation, and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in IT related area.
  • 3-6 years of experience in IT audit and/or extensive experience in advanced cybersecurity risks and controls.
  • Experience in higher education and/or healthcare.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, permanent position. The salary range for this position is $84,400 to $105,000 commensurate with education and experience. Telecommuting and/or a hybrid work schedule may be possible subject to authorization and University policy. The University offers outstanding benefits, including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment.
