JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of Procurement, this position maintains oversight for all aspects of the functions of the Dining Services Menu Management System and IT-related issues. This includes oversight and coordination of interfaces with other software programs in use within the department to include but not limited to Eventmaster, SharePoint, Kuali Build, and Temp Trak.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Oversee, coordinate, train, and support the effective use of FoodPro or current system, an automated food production system, in all Dining Services locations. Provide day-to-day system support and troubleshooting for the menu management system. Run weekly functions of startup, production run, vendor bid updates, and FRS transfers. Generate, export, and distribute weekly reports to meet internal departmental needs. Collect, enter, and maintain the nutritional data for all items in FoodPro. Train unit personnel to carry out regular functions of forecasting, ordering, entering unit data, and keeping inventory files current. Prepare, present, and coordinate on-going training to all unit management and production personnel when new FoodPro releases are installed and to ensure FoodPro is utilized to its full capacity. On-going review of FoodPro database files to keep clean of duplications, deleted items, outdates processes, etc.

  • Coordinate with Culinary Development on recipe entries and updates.
  • Co-host monthly Production Chef meetings with the Culinary Development Team.
  • As needed provide information tracked in menu management system to inquiring students, vendors, and University offices.
  • Report to Assistant Directors or Executive Director any potential problems as they relate to the use of the menu management system.
  • Keep abreast of future system developments and enhancements as well as newly developed practices within the current menu management system.
  • Seeks opportunities to further automate routine processes and/or increase the amount of interfacing between this system and systems both within and outside the university.
  • Prepare and update operational procedure manuals for FoodPro administrative functions and nutritional data entry.
  • Primary liaison for department with the IT department for domain and email accounts (creation and deletion), access to shared resources (email distribution, lists, network folders, shared mailboxes), software and equipment purchases, and special system access.
  • Attends department meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field.
  2. Six years of related experience, with one year overseeing large projects.
  3. Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting skills required to identify hardware and software failures or problems. 
  4. Demonstrated skills and knowledge of data collection/verification to ensure the accuracy of the reports generated from the system. 
  5. Demonstrated skill to communicate clearly and effectively in person in writing and on the phone with a variety of individuals at all levels. 
  6. Articulated commitment to, demonstrated understanding of and/or experience working with diverse populations. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience working in a unionized environment.
  2. Prior work experience in the food industry.
  3. Prior Accounts Payable experience.

This is a full-time, permanent position. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA). The expected hiring range for this position is $$78,820 to $85,000.
