JOB SUMMARY 

The Department of Kinesiology, a part of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR) at the University of Connecticut is seeking a dynamic and team-oriented leader with creative energy to serve as the Doctor of Physical Therapy Educational Program Coordinator (Educational Program Coordinator) with responsibility to provide administrative support to all operations, including financial, human resources and payroll, and programmatic support for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT). The successful candidate will contribute to a culture that values community, inclusion, excellence, and strategic growth. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Coordinate and manage the academic, administrative, and fiscal functions for the daily operation of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program to meet department, college, university, and accreditation standards.  
  • Serve as initial point of contact for the program, providing customer service support to faculty, students, staff, and visitors.   
  • Process human resource and payroll functions of DPT personnel, including faculty, staff, student workers, special payroll employees, graduate assistants, and gratis appointments.
  • Coordinate and manage a wide range of fiscal, administrative, and operational matters.  
  • Prepare budget projections, regular statements, and monitor all programmatic budgets, including foundation accounts. 
  • Develop and maintain data collection processes for ongoing program assessment and quality improvement.  
  • Organize and coordinate DPT communications and marketing, including programmatic website updates and social media.
  • Develop the DPT CAPTE Annual Accreditation Report.
  • Manage and coordinate the Graduate Admissions process within the Department of Kinesiology and serve as the main contact for prospective students.  
  • Support the DPT Director and program Faculty with activities related to strategic planning, recruitment, curriculum, course scheduling, accreditation requirements, and personnel searches.  
  • Provide operational support to the Director of the Human Anatomy Learning Lab (HALL) in both internal and external program development and implementation.
  • Assist in advising students or participants regarding academic program planning and course selection. Explains program policies, procedures, and requirements.  
  • Supervise student employees with jobs associated with the DPT program.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field and three (3) to four (4) years of professional experience in a responsible administrative support position OR an equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum 7 years of related experience).
  2. Demonstrated work experience in academic programs in higher education, or related field. 
  3. Experience working in a fast-paced, complex, and multi-faceted office environment. 
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and establish relationships with a variety of constituents, both internal and external to the University. 
  5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  6. Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills.
  7. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications including Teams, Forms, Excel, Outlook, or equivalent systems.
  8. Proficient in website maintenance or social media experience. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field. 
  2. Demonstrated experience managing academic fiscal accounts and/or with grants and contracts management. 
  3. Demonstrated experience with electronic systems for human resources, purchasing, payroll, project management, data management, and financial management. 
  4. Ability to identify and independently resolve problems efficiently and effectively.
  5. Experience developing and maintaining organizational structures and systems. 
  6. Experience working with diverse populations. 
  7. Ability to expertly manage time and deadlines, and juggle multiple competing priorities. 
  8. Supervisory experience.  
  9. Strong audit, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
